The first Lemming I ever knew was Melatha. He was tanking for us back when Skyseekers ran MC and while I spent most of my time in the hunter channel poking fun at everyone with Xerica and others, I did admire the big lug up front keeping the big bad giants, hounds, fire and rock thingies off of me. And let's face it everyone needs to keep the hunter alive!

When the Skyseeker broke up (my first major guild) I was very quick to apply to and join LJ and I did so knowing I was joining a bunch of noobs. I remember the moment well. I was in Silithus, whispered to Mel that I'd quit Skyseekers and did I need to fill out an application. "Yes, I would like you to do that if you don't mind" was the response. So being a smartarse, I filled it out. In French. I'm sure Mel rolled his eyes and said a few choice words about that. So while he's reading, or translating, or chosing to ignore the application, I head over to Feralas to do a bit of weapon skill levelling and he whispers me saying "Thanks for the application, do you mind if I get Altairien to do your interview? It'll be his first one." "Sure thing," I reply, trying to beat up a wolf with my fists at the same time.
A few minutes later I get a whisper from Alt. "So you want to join Lemming Juice" is the opener. "Yep." Such a concise reply. It was true though! Then about five minutes after that from Alt, "Do you want an invite?" "Yep." Such a great talker! Then there was the invitation to join and with no hesitation I clicked to accept and within seconds I was making everyone swoon with my first word: G'day.
And so my journey with the other Juicers began. More MC runs. AQ20 runs. ZG runs. Encounters with the dreaded Gravity Boss abounded and despite the countless upon countless wipes with anyone and everyone in countless different fashions (RL pet pulls, psycho imps, Elk deciding to pull the boss without telling anyone, "Don't stand here or you'll pull the room...oops" to name a few of the more memorable ones) it was a pleasure to join runs, raids and bridge/cliff jumpings.
The expansion came and despite some upheaval we made it through and the levelling 'race' began. "Ya'll know that when the expansion comes out, I'll be the last to 70, right?" was the cry of Melatha for the weeks leading up the release. And yet lo and behold, Mel was first to 70 in the guild. We never let him forget that. Also, we never let him forget the fact that he was ancient and forgetful. And had a low intellect coz he was a warrior. And.. well, the picture is quite clear. I even drew several pictures to prove my point!
But in the good natured way that is Mel, he took it all on the chin (a la a Chuck Norris kick) and gave as good as he got. In the last year or so with our Kara run, we spent more time laughing our heads off at whatever silly little joke one of us started. But it was Mel who kept us going and kept us together and when we finally cleared the instance for the first time, there was a real sense of accomplishment. And we did it as a guild.
The same thing happened when we first took down Gruul. And again when we got into MrT and finally beat that instance. And yet with all those successes, none of it wouldn't have mattered without knowing that even if we had failed (and there were plenty of those) then we still would have had a good time and would laugh and joke and try to take the blame for the failure on ourselves. "It's my fault" "No no! It was me" "You have to blame the tank!" "Never! The huntard is the reason!" and on and on it would go. And then we'd take it to GC and people who had no idea what had happened or who were new to the guild and barely knew us would point and laugh and it'd all be good. Taking that coveted "Lemming of the Week" tag was always something to aspire to.
In the end, the outpouring of feelings from guildies, non-guildies and hordies showed just how much the guild and thus Melatha and Darilyn meant to the server. They had built up a reputation and everyone respected it. The best parts of being in WoW? Lemming Juice. The best part of being in Lemming Juice? Melatha, Darilyn, Srathor, Dairitor, Jandrin, Tukimi... Everyone.
Thank you Mel for providing us with the guild.
